England 2 for 17, chasing 180 to win

England was 17 for 2 in 4 overs in reply to the West Indies first innings score of 179 for 5 in 20 at the time of our going to press in the second game of the Super Eight at the Pallekele Stadium.

England started sensationally losing Craig Kieswetter and Luke Wright for no score in Ravi Rampaul’s first over.

Openers Chris Gayle 58 and Johnson Charles 84 gave the cricketers from the Caribbean a rollicking start putting on 103 for the first wicket in 66 balls with Gayle who smashed 6 fours and 4 sixes being first out.

‘King’ Charles who had a fruitful reign had 10 fours and 3 sixes. West Indies 179 for 5 in 20 overs (J.Charles 84, C.Gayle 58, D.Bravo 11 no, A.Russell 10 no, S.Broad 2 for 26) England 17 for 2,R.Rampaul 2 for 6)
