Cabinet approves Appropriation Bill

Cabinet approval was granted for the Appropriation Bill for the
financial year 2013, Media and Information Minister Keheliya Rambukwella
said.
Addressing the media at the weekly Cabinet briefing at the
Information Ministry yesterday, the minister said Cabinet approval was
granted for the Appropriation Bill for the financial year 2013 submitted
by President Mahinda Rajapaksa as the Finance and Planning Minister. The
Bill will be submitted to Parliament after it is published in the
government gazette, he said.
The President and the Treasury consulted each line ministry and
stakeholders in the preparation of the Bill to formulate a realistic
budget, the minister said.
The estimated government expenditure for 2013 is Rs 2,520 billion.
The economic growth will be maintained at seven percent and the annual
inflation rate counted at seven percent, he said.
The first reading of the Appropriation Bill will take place on
October 9 while the budget proposal will be presented on November 8,
Minister Rambukwella said. |
