An experience in a vessel

The ambiance of a vessel with a helm to steer its way surrounded by luxurious antique equipments would certainly take one back to another era, providing a novel experience for those who wish to escape the hubbub of city life in the commercial city of Colombo. With my visit to 'Flag & Whistle Family Restaurant', I was able to bask in the enthralling atmosphere which surrounded me.

The restaurant is located on the 5th floor of the Maritime centre, to be exact of the location it is 256, Srimath Ramanathan Mawatha, Colombo 15. Having been located at the outskirt of Colombo, right opposite of the Port of Colombo, one is able to enjoy a breath taking view from north to south of the Port. It is vital to mention that it is the only restaurant where you can admire the entire port of Colombo.

The restaurant is open from 11am - 2pm and again from 5pm till midnight. As it has ample parking facilities one will not have to encounter any difficulty at all.

As one enters, they are welcomed most graciously by the staff that would cater to all needs allowing one to ravish an excellent meal with their efficient service. Once entering the panoramic ambiance with its structure of a vessel, tall roof and its spaciousness enhance the true luxury of one's experience. The restaurant composes of different sections as upper deck and lower deck and even consists of an elevator which is similar to one in a real vessel. One can even enjoy the view with the fresh air blowing harmoniously relaxing the mind and body. Also the fish tank just outside with its clear water gives the taste of natural beauty .

When paying attention to the cuisine, its distinct as they only use the very best, most original ingredients to bring out the best and offer quality food for a reasonable price. Under the painstaking efforts of Chef Pradeep Perera, a wide variety of cuisine ranging from appetizers, soups, main courses, additional dishes and desserts can be savoured regardless whether its western or eastern cuisine.

One can relish the enticing food while comfortably enjoying the ambiance. As Flag & Whistle Family Restaurant has the ability to cater to 225 guests at once, one can celebrate their birthdays, anniversaries, family gatherings or even weddings which would be definitely something new and provide a wonderful experience for you and your loved ones.

The specialty of the Restaurant is not only its ambiance but also its service and cuisine has won recognition from the Colombo Municipal Council as the best restaurant from 750 restaurants in Colombo, in recognition of the maintenance of hygiene and safety standards with the 'A' Grade Classification. Thus I am quite confident that it would unmistakably be a vista for one to enjoy and savour with loved ones.
