Refuse tea seized

Acting on information received by the intelligence unit of the Rajagiriya STF camp , a team led by I P Nadeeka de Silva arrested two suspects with 22,500Kg of refuse tea in their possession at Wewelduwa, Kelaniya on Monday. The suspects, residents of Kelaniya and Grandpass were handed over to the CID and Sri Lanka Tea Board for further investigations.

Cattle transporters arrested

The Udawalawa STF on Monday arrested five suspects while they were transporting a herd of 22 cattle injuriously packed in two lorries at Ellewatte in Kahawatte.

Police said the estimated value of the cattle was Rs 700,000. The suspects, residents of Welisara, Udawalawa, Ragama and Tanamalvila were handed to Kahawatte Police for further legal action.

Arrested with venison

Acting on a tip off, the Hambantota STF arrested a suspect with a stock of venison from his possession at Walara on Monday. I P C H Nalinda and a team led the raid.

The suspect was handed over to Hambantota wild life officers for investigations.
