NWPC passes Divi Neguma Bill

The Divi Neguma Bill was passed in the North Western Provincial Council(NWPC) yesterday with a majority of 37 votes.

A total of 36 UPFA and one Muslim Congress Councillor voted in favour while a member of the Janatha Vimuktghi Peramuna voted against the Draft Bill, which was presented at the Provincial Council meeting.

The Bill was presented at the meeting presided over by NWPC chairman R. D. Wimaladasa, by NWPC Chief Minister Athula Wijesinghe. Earlier, the Divi Neguma Draft Bill was passed in the Western Provincial Council.
