Diyatha Uyana, walking path and
flower shops at Diyawanna Oya Waters Edge premises,
Battaramulla was opened on Saturday. The opening ceremony
was graced by Senior adviser to the President and Economic
Development Minister Basil Rajapaksa and Defence and Urban
Development Secretary Gotabhaya Rajapaksa. President Mahinda
Rajapaksa paid a surprise visit to the venue. The Sri Lanka
Land Reclamation and Development Corporation, the Army, the
Navy and the Civil Security Department constructed the
Diyatha Uyana under the guidance of the Defence and Urban
Development Secretary. Ministers Dinesh Gunawardena, Susil
Premajayantha, Gamini Lokuge, AHM Fowzie, Defence Ministry
Seva Vanitha Unit (SVU) chairperson Ioma Rajapaksa, Chief of
Defence Staff and Three-Forces commanders also participated.
