Alleged assault on Major:
Seven including Malaka remanded
The Colombo Crime Division (CCD) yesterday
produced seven suspects including Minister Mervyn Silva’s son Malaka
before Colombo Fort magistrate and additional district Judge Kaviska
Wijeratne in connection with a complaint by Major Chandana Pradeep
that he was assaulted by several persons and relieved of his
official weapon, mobile phone and the car key.

Six suspects in museum robbery re-remanded
Six suspects including two women taken into
custody in connection with the alleged theft of gold and precious
stone studded artefacts from the museum were yesterday produced
before Chief Magistrate Rashmi Singappuli and were re-remanded till
October 1.
