ICC Awards Ceremony this evening

It would be a glamorous night when the International Cricket Council awards add colours to the cricketing world at the Water’s Edge Hotel in Battaramulla this evening. The biggest cricketing awards ceremony which will be hosted in Sri Lanka will start at 5.45 p.m. in the evening.

Sri Lanka’s elegant cricketer Kumar Sangakkara is vying for honours at today’s ceremony competing with South Africans Hashim Amla and Vernon Philander and Australian Test captain Michael Clarke for the Garfield Sobers Trophy.

All four have also been nominated for the Test cricketer of the year, while Sangakkara also features in the shortlist for the one-day and people's awards.

Meanwhile the “Toe Crusher” Lasith Malinga will also contest for the ODI Cricketer’s crown with Sangakkara, Mahendra Singh Dhoni and Virat Kohli.

Before Colombo, London (2004 and 2011), Sydney (2005), Mumbai (2006), Johannesburg (2007 and 2009), Dubai (2008) and Bengaluru (2010) have hosted the event.
