Indian MP condemns TN attack

Condemning the recent attacks on Sri Lankan pilgrims visiting Tamil
Nadu, Bharatiya Janata Party( BJP) MP Shri Kaptan Singh Solanki said any
conflict or misunderstanding should be resolved through dialogue and not
violence.
The MP from the Indian Upper House of Parliament in Colombo to
participate in the 58th Commonwealth Parliamentary Conference said it
was the responsibility of relevant parties to create an atmosphere to
ensure this kind of incident will not be repeated.
"There have been some incidents and these should not happen. Both
countries have enjoyed very friendly and historical ties. If there are
any disputes, they should be resolved through discussion and dialogue
and not violence," he told the Daily News.
"Any kind of physical attack on anybody within or outside the country
cannot be condoned. There are issues concerning the fishermen too and
they too should be resolved amicably by way of discussion," he said.
The MP from Madhya Pradesh said these were the very aims of the CPA
as well, to develop democratic values, cooperation and friendship within
member states. He said Sri Lanka and India as friendly neighbours should
develop enhanced cooperation in socio - economic spheres which is of
relevance to both countries.
Solanki said after ending the conflict, Sri Lanka was now moving
ahead with new vigour and India should help the country whenever
necessary. |
