Chinese NPC Standing Committee chairman arrives today

Chairman and Party Secretary of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress of China Wu Bangguo will arrive in Sri Lanka today for a three day official visit.

He will be here on Speaker Chamal Rajapaksa 's invitation. Bangguo is ranked second in official ranking of state and party leaders.

An official ceremony will be held to receive the high- level Chinese delegation led by Wu in Colombo.

Wu is expected to ink a number of agreements ranging from economy to culture with Sri Lanka during his visit and he will also focus a gamut of bilateral and regional matters during his discussion with Sri Lankan leadership.

According to a Chinese embassy official, he will also visit to Colombo South Container Terminal and War Heroes memorial at Kotte.
