Printcare’s NLB contract saves money for Sri Lanka

In a significant move, the National Lotteries Board (NLB) has signed a long term agreement with the country’s premier printing and packaging company Printcare to supply their scratch lottery tickets.

These tickets had hitherto been imported from India, and other countries. The tender to produce 120 million lottery tickets annually was awarded to Printcare Secure Ltd, the specialist security card printer with a state of the art facility, within the Printcare Group. Printcare Secure is a major supplier of pre-paid telecom cards to the local telecom industry, whilst also exporting lottery tickets and phone cards.

NLB was previously spending a significant amount in importing its requirements. A spokesman for NLB stated that “placing the order locally was a big vote of confidence on the local industry apart from effecting considerable foreign exchange savings”. He added “NLB also looks to benefit from shorter lead times, smaller inventories and more flexibility in deliveries, and will thus be able to move quickly in adapting to consumer needs”.

Ranga Suriarachchi, General Manager of Printcare Secure expressed satisfaction at the tender award and was quietly confident of exceeding expectations. He said “Printcare’s quality, service standards, design capabilities, and level of innovation are far superior to that of international suppliers, and we will demonstrate that in tangible terms.”

The selection of Sri Lanka's leading print services company is a positive move by this Government entity, as it looks to grow revenues by increasing sales by developing new and innovative games.
