The 33rd National Conference of the Chartered Accountants organized
by the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka, would be held
from October 18 to 20, under the theme “Winning – country, corporate,
citizens in solving the puzzle of success.”
“As winning becomes increasingly challenging in both global and local
context and with the global economy continuing to be plagued by
persistent uncertainties, the 33 National Conference would explore ways
and means for Chartered Accountants to counter these challenges and
forge ahead winning at all levels,” CA Sri Lanka president Sujeewa
Rajapakse said.
“This year’s conference would navigate and inspire chartered
accountants to take the lead in steering our country, corperates and
citizens forward, amidst prevalent challenges and complexities,” he
said.
Winning is imperative to bring about a positive outlook, while
reducing volatility in the economic environment, foster prospects to
attract more investments, improve regional and global cooperation and
thereby a robust economic development of the country.
“Winning at corporate level not only energizes the economy in which
it operates, but also creates new business ventures, increased
opportunities for growth, which in turn, leads to more and better
investments, thus helping a nation sustain its development progress
despite the challenges,” Rajapakse said.
“Therefore having identified the importance of winning in today’s
context this year, the Institute decided to take the lead and inspire
our professionals to steer the country and the corporate towards
victory,” he said. The Chartered Institute which was incorporated 53
years ago, has 4,200 members and 35,000 students with over 50,000 partly
qualified at present. Over 25 percent of the qualified are employed
abroad.
