Singapore win by massive margin

Ruthless Singapore defeated Pakistan by 111-2 recording the second
highest victory margin of the Asian Netball Championships at the
Sugathadasa Stadium yesterday. Singapore scored 25 goals in the first
quarter while Pakistan shot only one.
During the other quarters there was no resistance from the opponents
and Singapore continued to score at their will and finished the second ,
third and final quarters scoring 30, 25 and 31 goals respectively.
Pakistan added their second goal in the third quarter.
For the winners, Y U Menling netted 39 goals out of 48 attempts and
Cassendra Soh netted 34 goals out of 46 attempts. The pool B current
leaders will meet Brunei today at 12.45pm.
Hong Kong registers first win
It was their first victory in the championships when Hong Kong
defeated India by 60 -29 in another Group A match yesterday. They scored
19 goals in the fist quarter to which India replied with 9. Hong Kong
goal shooter Krystle Edwards was busy in the second half as well and
Hong Kong added 17 more to the total while the opponents scored 6.
In the third quarter there were 12 goals scored by Hong Kong. Indians
managed to net seven goals. The final quarter was a repeat of the
previous one as both teams scored the same number of goals as in the
third quarter. Krystle in her 61 attempts scored 41 goals for Hong Kong
while Indian goal shooter Harneet Kaur shot 15 goals.
Malaysia (70) beat Maldives (22)
The third day ended with Malaysia beating Maldives by 70-22. Malaysia
scored 17 goals and secured their net from their opponents to lead the
fist quarter 17-0. They again scored 17 goals in the second quarter and
this time Maldives replied with 6 goals.
There was not much of a problem for Malayasia to score another 36
goals in the next two quarters. Maldives only scored 16 goals in the
third and final quarter. Malaysia's N Diana scored 34 goals in her 45
attempts. R Moosa scored 16 goals in 28 attempts for Maldives. |
