A lorry driver who transported a load of teak in a dangerous manner was arrested by Ingiriya Police on Saturday. The lorry was plying to Moratuwa from Moneragala when the arrest was made in Ingiriya.

Police said due to the weight of the teak load, the iron frames of the lorry had broken near Balangoda and the driver had tied the timber load with ropes and transported it continuously. "If the ropes had broken during the journey, this would have resulted in a huge disaster," the Police said.
