'Naughty' forties trick to obtain fake IDs foiled

The Registration of Persons Department nabbed two persons attempting to prepare forged Identity Cards. The suspects were handed over to the Police for further investigations. Sources said the two suspects handed over applications to obtain Identity Cards through the one day service.

Officers on suspicion checked the details with the Divisional Secretary on the instructions of the Commissioner General of the Registration of Persons Department. The sources said the applications had not been issued to the duo.

They were arrested when they came to collect the ID cards. The sources said another person was also arrested for the same offence. The sources said the suspects attempted to obtain the ID cards by reducing their age by 15 years to go abroad.

The suspects were aged over 40, the sources said.
