Advanced training programme
The Centre for Study of Human Rights of the University of Colombo, in
collaboration with FOKUS will conduct a four months advanced training
programme on women and peace building in Sinhalese and English.
The programme will be conducted free of charge.

Village tanks to be renovated

The Irrigation and Water Resources Management Ministry has made
arrangements to restore 1,250 village tanks and other small reservoirs
in the Rajarata area.
Accordingly an intensified programme will be launched for the
clearing of silt and mud and the repairing of damaged dams and spills of
these tanks shortly. According to a ministry spokesman Rs. 3,665 million
has been allocated by the government for this purpose.
Road to be developed

The 10 kilometre long Giritale - Piyabeduma road is to be developed
at a cost of Rs. 869,000,000. The project launching ceremony was held at
Diyabeduma on the Giritale – Elahera road which runs through the
Polonnaruwa and Matale districts.
Minister T. B. Ekanayake 55 today
Culture and Arts Minister T.B. Ekanayake completes 55 years today. A
Sangika Dana for 60 members of the Maha Sangha will be held at the
ground floor of the Sri Dalada Maligawa to mark the occasion.
Asiri Yasora
The Old Girls' Association of Yasodara Vidyalaya with the
collaboration of the School Development Society will hold Asiri Yasora
2012, a carnival and musical show in aid of the school building fund
from August 31 to September 2 from 4.30 pm to 10.00 pm daily at the
Vihara Maha Devi Park, Colombo. The proceeds will be used for school
development projects, including the purchasing of a new school bus. For
