Vimukthi in superb win

Vimukthi De Alwis staged a superb display beating Nishangan Nadarajah by (6/4, 6/2) in two sets in the second round of the under 18 tie of 2012 Tennis Junior Nationals worked off at Sri Lanka Tennis Association (SLTA)courts yesterday.

Aritha Weerasinghe trounced Dhanushka Weerasinghe (6/7,6/3,7/5). Aritha faced a defeat (6/7) in the the first round after a hard fight and won the second and third sets of the quarters without much effort.

Meanwhile, Chinthaka Shaveen beat Shehan Fernando (6/2,6/2) and Shamal Dissnayake beat Madhusha Wijesuriya (6/3,6/2).

In the girls quarter finals Samendri de Silva beat Vinuri Wickramaratne (2/6,7/6,3/1). Vinuri Wickramaratne retired from the quarter final due to an injury.

Vimukthi De Alwis will meet Aritha Weerasinghe while Chinthaka Shaveen will meet Shamal Dissanayake in the boys semi finals which is scheduled to be played today .

In the girls semi finals Kavindya de Silva will meet Tashya Fernando while Shankari Thayakaran will meet Samendri de Silva.

Today, the boys’ under-18 singles semi finals will be the highlight of the sixth day of the tournament.
