Batti gale damages 73 houses

Gale force winds experienced in the Porativu Divisional Secretariat division in Batticaloa on Monday damaged 73 houses and a devalaya.

Porativupattu Divisional Secretary V Vilvaratnam said 21 houses were totally damaged while the rest were partially damaged.

The District Disaster Management Centre has taken steps to provide tents and food relief to the affected families.

A three-year-old child who sustained injuries was admitted to Kalavanchakudi Hospital.
