Vegetable prices decline

There is a rapid decrease in vegetable prices at the Manning market
this month compared to the previous month with the arrival of vegetable
stocks daily from Jaffna, a Co-operatives and Internal Trade Ministry
spokesman said.
Large quantities of consumer items, including potatoes, green
chillies, capsicum and beetroot, have reached the Manning market from
Jaffna and prices have gone down. Prices of other vegetables have also
decreased. Prices of one kilogram of Ladies Fingers and green chillies
have come down to Rs 40 and Rs 60 from Rs 100.
Prices of tomatoes, bitter gourd, snake gourd, luffa, capsicum,
beetroot, know-khol and brinjal have come down to Rs 70, Rs 100, Rs 60,
Rs 60, Rs 40, Rs 70, Rs 50 and Rs 65.
