Cops assault pregnant woman

A Sub Inspector and a constable attached to a security camp in Kumbuka, Horana who allegedly beat-up a pregnant woman were ordered to be remanded until August 24 by Horana Magistrate Mahinda Ranasingha.

According to reports the pregnant woman was in a trishaw parked in front of a restaurant in Kumbuka area when the SI and PC came to the spot and peeped into the trishaw.

The owner of the trishaw had asked the reason for their action and an argument had developed between the two parties resulting in the police officers assaulting the pregnant woman.

The injured woman was admitted to Horana hospital for treatment and later discharged. Moragahahena Police are investigating.
