Sun Foundation extends its initiative to Sri Lanka
Sun Foundation took yet another leap in its philanthropic endevours
by launching its activities including vocational training programme for
200 (two hundred) needy women and children annually in Sri Lanka.

Padma Shri Vikrmajit Sahney, Chairman of the Foundation, also the
President of SAARC Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI), signed the
MOU with Iyanporuwe Temple, in Madiwela Sri Jayawadenepure.
Dr. Nimal Hettiarachchi signed the MOU on behalf of the Temple
authorities. Vikramjit is currently in Sri Lanka as member of CEO
delegation led by Shri Anand Sharma, Minister of Commerce, Industry and
Textile, Govt. of India.
He took this opportunity to launch its philanthropic initiatives at
Colombo as part of his pledge to extend this support to all SAARC
countries on his taking over the presidency of SCCI and is proving by
delivering his 'word of honour'.
This is the second such initiative of Sun Foundation in SAARC
Countries, the first being in Nepal where the foundation is supporting
the education and vocational training of poor and needy girls of St.
Mary's school at Lubo, Nepal.
The Foundation is also at finalization stage of starting these
programmes at Bangladesh and Pakistan. In the second stage, Sun
Foundation would widen its reach to the rest of member countries of
SAARC.
Vikramjit also called on the President, Sri Lanka and announced the
setting up of a phosphatic plant in Sri Lanka. He also said that Indian
companies are looking at low cost housing and other infrastructure
projects in Sri Lanka.
