Harcourts opens at Hill Street
Harcourts Pharmacy Chain opened its 26th branch at Hill Street
Dehiwala, recently.

The 26th branch opening was also
graced by Dr. Bernard De Soyza a long standing well wisher
of Harcourts and many distinguished invitees. |
The Chief Guest for the opening ceremony was Prof. S. D. Jayaratne,
the Professor of Medicine at the Colombo South Teaching Hospital and the
current chairman of State Pharmaceutical Corporation, and State
Pharmaceutical Manufacturing Corporation.
Speaking on the occasion, Prof. Jayaratne complimented Harcourts for
establishing a new benchmark in the lay out and design of retail
pharmacies in the country and for offering quality professional service
in a comfortable ambience. Prof. Jayaratne observed in a lighter vein
that although Harcourts will be a "Competitor " to Osusalas, for the
benefit of the general public some type of franchise arrangement can be
considered between Osusalas and Harcourts chain.
The Chairman of Harcourts Group, Ahamed Rheyas, pointed out that the
first pharmacy of Harcourts was opened in the year 1998 at Dehiwala
which even today after 14 years remains the flag ship branch in terms of
customer loyalty and revenue. Harcourts have drawn up developmental
plans for the pharmacy chain in the next 5 years to cover all major
towns including in the East and North.
Harcourts Pharmacy chain has introduced many 'Customer Care'
programmes as new trends in pharmacy service. The pharmacy team
participates in many public oriented exhibitions where the team conducts
Blood sugar tests, Body Mass Index (BMI) test, Fat Evaluation and
biological age evaluation etc with the help of computerized gadgets.
They also conduct medical camps of their own for senior citizens
through Pensioners Association , other socially active groups and even
in association with the Public Health Department.
