Prof. Ediriweera Sarachchandra commemoration on August 15

The commemoration ceremony of late Prof. Ediriweera Sarachchandra, renowned artiste, intellectual and giant figure in Sinhala literature will be held at the Sri Lanka Foundation Institute on August 15 under the aegis of Mass Media and Information Minister Dr. Keheliya Rambukwella.

The prime objective of the ceremony will be to create a social dialogue on the development of Sri Lankan stage drama.

Prof.Ariyarathna Atugala's two research books titled “Wesmuhunu Ha Wispaurusayanaya” and 'Mahasamayama ha Etic Drama” dedicated to Prof. Ediriweera Sarachchandra and website of the “Mahasamayama” stage drama will also be launched on the same day parallel to the ceremony.

The Prof. Ediriweera Sarachchandara oration will be made by veteran dramatist Jayalath Manorathna. In addition, Senior Lecturer Aththanayaka M. Herath, Senior Lecturer Dhamma Disanayaka, and Veteran artiste Jakson Anthony will deliver lectures.

Some special episodes of the drama's of Prof. Sarachchandra will also be staged with the contribution of Lalitha Sarachchandra.

The Commemoration ceremony will be organized by ETIC Creation Research Society( ECRS). Prof. Thissa Kariyawasam, Prof. Sunanda Mahendra and Prof. Micheal Fernando will also participate.
