Lucy Hale battling with her body image

US: She may be new to the fame game but Pretty Little Liars star Lucy Hale has always appeared to ooze confidence. However the 23-year-old has admitted that she used to struggle with her body image.

The actress spoke out in an interview to say that there were times she would even go days without eating, or would exercise rigorously despite an empty stomach.

She told Cosmopolitan Magazine: ‘I’ve never really talked about this, but I would go days without eating. Or maybe I’d have some fruit and then go to the gym for three hours.

I knew I had a problem.’

And while it was an uphill battle for the brunette beauty, she managed to get better and is now happy and healthy.

She said: ‘It was a gradual process but I changed myself.’

While Lucy’s role as the feisty Aria Montgomery on Pretty Little Liars has cemented her starlet status, the actress is no stranger to the industry.

She first appeared on television in 2003 when she competed in reality show American Juniors, which saw her land a spot in a short-lived tween pop band.
