Havelocks head ‘A’ division league points table

Havelocks Sports Club moved to the top of the Dialog ‘A’ division
league rugby tournament points table with a hard-fought 32 -22 win over
Up Country Lions at Nawalapitiya last Saturday. Centre Niva Tausa (two),
Mithun Hapugoda (two) and Nissan Aitui scored tries for Havelocks with
Niva Tausa converting two and putting over penalty to give the park club
its seventh win for the season.
The Sri Lanka Navy turned in a giant killing performance to register
a stupendous 25 – 14 win over defending champions Kandy SC to move to
the second position in the points table. Tries by skipper Yoshitha
Rajapaksa, Number Eight Bilal Hassan and Lock Forward Kalana Amarasinghe
with Dev Anand adding the extra points to two tries and dropping two
goals to give the sailors this morale boosting win which was their
seventh win for the season.
It was Kandy SC’s first defeat for the season which saw them sliding
down to the third position in the table and have the tough task of
overcoming the Navy and Havelocks in the return matches if they are too
retain the ‘A’ division league title for the 12th consecutive year.
CR and FC suffered five defeats in a row came up with an improved
performance to score a smashing 43 – 20 win over CH and FC at Longden
Place on Saturday.
Their new foreign player Misa Sautia, had a superb match scoring
three tries while Sri Lanka ruggerite Mushin Faleel.Former Trinitian
Dilshan Kelaniyagoda also had a good game scoring a splendid try.Mushin
Faleel also excelled as a place kicker converting five tries and putting
over penalty. |
