Last year’s champions St Peter’s College clinched the Milo Trophy
staging a stupendous performance in a nail biting final to beat the
formidable Science College by 7 points (1 goal) to 5 (ltry) in the All
Island 10-a-side under 18 rugby tournament played at the Royal Sports
Complex on August 5.
It was a ding doing battle between these two teams, there were no
scoring during the first half.
The first to score after lemons was the Science College in the fifth
minute by their forward Isuru Viraj, who went for an unconverted try.
But it lasted only five minutes since the speedy wing three quarter of
St Peters S Dirocksz dashed through 75 metres passing several defenders
to plant under the post to give the Peterites the winning 7 points.
More than 350 participants from 24 schools all over the Island took
part in this tournament which was sponsored by the Nestle Lanka PLC.
The Chief Guest was Mohamed Ali, Brand Manager, Nestle Lanka PLC.
