Two politicos granted bail

Southern Provincial Councillor (UNP) Krishantha Puspakumara alias Raththaran and Bope-Poddala Pradeshiya Sabha member (UNP)Amila Nuwan were released on cash bail of Rs. 10, 000 and a Rs. 100,000 surety each by Galle Chief Magistrate U.S.Kalansuriya yesterday.

The provincial councilor and the PS member were remanded until yesterday for the alleged offence of obstructing traffic Police officers from carrying out their duties on Sunday at Talgampola, Akmeemeemana. Although Akmeemana Police objected the grant of bail to the politicians, the Chief Magistrate granted bail to the two.

Councillors K.L.Bandara, Sisira Weerasuriya, Chandana Uluwitiya and Sujeewa Ruwanpura appeared for the suspects. The case was postponed for November 7.
