Health Minister Maithripala Sirisena on Tuesday said he would not
hesitate to take stern action against the health officials on
corruption, bribery or irregular charges if they were found to be guilty
of them.
He said he does not take any of the charges against them lightly,
adding that proper investigation on these charges would be carried out
by the Ministry Secretary following the due procedure.
Responding to a question by a journalist at a press conference at the
Mahaweli Centre, the minister stated that the Cabinet would decide today
on the service extension of the Director General of Health Services. He
said what the ministry would inform the Cabinet is that the post of the
Director General of Health Services falls vacant with effect from
Monday.
He added the Cabinet must decide on a suitable person to be appointed
for the post. |
