PS chairman entangled in brawl

Mawathagama Pradeshiya Sabha (PS) chairman and three others taken into custody over a brawl in Mawathagama were released on bail on Wednesday by the Mawathagama magistrate.

Meanwhile, Wattegama Police commenced a search operation to arrest Wattegama Urban Council chairman over another incident of assault.

The Mawathagama PS chairman was arrested after initial investigations by the Mawathagama Police following a complaint lodged against the PS chairman and three others, in connection with an incident where a person aged 28 was hospitalized after being assaulted during a musical show in Mawathagama on July 29.

The police are looking for the Wattegama UC chairman over an incident where a fruit seller in Wattegama was assaulted after which he fled the area.
