NBTS wins award for quality service

Addressing a ceremony held at the National Blood Centre, Colombo
yesterday, Health Minister Maithripala Sirisena said Sri Lanka winning
the award for the best blood transfusion service of developing countries
2012 is a great victory and an honour for the country.

"The blood transfusion service was presented the award,considering
its high quality service. Arrangements will be made to strengthen the
service further", the Minister said.
At the ISBT Congress 2011 held at Taipei, Taiwan, an open invitation
was made proclaiming the selection of the best transfusion service among
developing countries.
Applications were called in the official website of the ISBT and NBTS.
Sri Lanka also took part in the competition.
In the competition, performance of 2009, 2010 and 2011 were evaluated
covering all aspects that accounted for the improvements of the relevant
transfusion service.
NBTS, Sri Lanka able to prove its ability defeated 97 countries and
won the award. |
