New Bio engineering degrees for the first time

South Asian Institute of Technology and Medicine (SAITM ) is the first non state sector higher education institute in Sri Lanka to receive the degree awarding status by the University Grants Commission (UGC) of Sri Lanka. SAITM offers degree programs in Engineering, Medicine, Multimedia, Management and Finance.

SAITM has the most advanced facilities and state of the art infrastructure, which provides the unique university experience at an affordable cost. It has built up its image as an opportunity provided for the students who have not had the privilege to enter in to State Universities. SAITM is proud of being supportive, flexible and relevant to the real world.

The teaching Faculty comprises of a team of highly qualified and experienced academics recruited according to UGC guidelines.

The Asian Institute of Technology (AIT) which was established in Bangkok in 1959 is a leading regional postgraduate institution and is actively working with public and private sector partners throughout the region and with some of the top Universities in the world.

AIT is a degree awarding university fully recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC) of Sri Lanka. AIT offers many scholarships at MSc and PhD levels to the graduates of Sri Lankan State Universities currently accommodating a student population of over 3000, including many Sri Lankan Students. South Asian Institute of Technology and Medicine (SAITM), Faculty of Engineering in affiliation with Asian Institute of Technology (AIT) is launching two new undergraduate programs in Environmental Engineering and Bio Systems Engineering, keeping with new trends in the industries where huge scope is open for such field of study.

These will be BSc (Hons) fulltime degree programs with 4 year duration which will be internationally recognized by professional bodies.

Graduates of above programs will be highly sought after in the food processing industry, waste water, and solid waste management systems, aqua culture and agriculture related industries, toxicology management and genetics.
