Inter-University Volleyball championship starts tomorrow

The 12th Inter-University volleyball Championships will be held from the August 03 to 06 at the University of Ruhuna indoor stadium in Wellamada, Matara.

The Department of Physical Education of the University of Ruhuna who successfully hosted the 2011 championship will host this years championship as well. Men's and women's teams from the Universities of Colombo, Peradeniya, Kelaniya, Sri Jayawardenapura, Moratuwa, Jaffna, Rajarata, Sabaragamuwa, Eastern, Wayamba, South Eastern, Aesthetics, Uva and Ruhuna will compete in this years event.

The University of Ruhuna clinched the Mens championship while the University of Kelaniya took the womens title at the 11th Inter University Volleyball championship in 2011.

The Vice Chancellor of the University of Ruhuna Professor Susirith Mendis will be the chief guest at the opening ceremony which will be held at 8a.m. tomorrow morning.
