A discussion on setting up a pool of artistes and launching a website with all information of artistes in Sri Lanka was held at the Presidential Secretariat on Tuesday. This will be initiated in line with the Mahinda Chinthana policy framework to uplift the local arts field. An art exhibition by famous Japanese Artist Kiyo Thakakura was held at National Art Gallery, Colombo on July 27. The exhibition of paintings depicting various facets of cultural religious and folk life of Sri Lanka was jointly declared open by Secretary to the Prime Minister S. Amarasekara and Private Secretary to the Prime Minister Anuradha Jayaratne. Japan – Sri Lanka International Cultural Foundation and Pelpola Vipassi Foundation president Ven. Pelpola Vipassee Thera, Independent Television Network Chairman Rosmand Senaratne were present on this occasion.
