Collection of articles on economy
Apata Galapena Arthika Kramaveda, collection of articles on economics
in Sinhala by Dr Rohan Samarajiva, expert on infrastructure policies and
C J Amaratunga, veteran journalist, will be launched at 4.00 pm on
August 6, at the Bandaranaike Centre for International Studies
auditorium, Colombo 8.
The book analyses how theories relevant to infrastructure, such as,
roads, highways, irrigation and drinking water, passenger and cargo
transport, power and telecommunications, could be attained successfully
within the political and social realities of Sri Lanka.
It gives restructuring tips for loss making state enterprises to help
transform them into profit making ventures.
Dr Rohan Samarajiva, who is running a research organization at
present, writes to newspapers as well as websites on a variety of
subjects including economics. In 2009, he was among the final 3 writers
nominated for the 'Bastiat' award presented to the best online
journalist. The co-author C J Amaratunge, is an engineering graduate
from University of Moratuwa.
He chose journalism over engineering as a profession and served in
editorial departments of several newspapers. Amaratunge, currently the
regional editor of Lankadeepa has earned a name as a writer of critical
columns on a wide range of social and political issues.
Apata Galapena Arthika Kramaveda would be interesting, relevant and
useful to policy makers and law makers. |
