CSD earns Rs 9.3 m with voluntary labour

Civil Security officials attached to the Civil Security Department
Kebetigollewa provincial office who helped to earn an income of Rs 9.3
million through agricultural projects launched with their voluntary
labour contributions were felicitated at a ceremony held at the
Kebetigollewa MV under the patronage of Child Development and Women's
Affairs Minister Tissa Karaliyadda on July 28.
A batch of 2,285 civil security officers is attached to the
Kebetigollewa Provincial office. Of the Rs 9.3 million income earned by
them, 20 percent will be spent for their welfare. A stock of paddy
valued at nearly Rs 5 million of their produce is lying in warehouses
awaiting release to the market.
Apart from contributing their labour for agricultural projects, they
also renovated the Kalagamvehera in Kebetigollewa and are currently
renovating the Handagala viharaya.
Speaking at the felicitation ceremony, Minister Karaliyadda said the
services rendered by the civil security force in liberating the country
from terrorism and the economic development should be appreciated. Ven
Vihara Halmillewe Dhammarakkhita Nayake Thera, Civil Security Department
Director General, Rear Admiral Ananda Pieris, Seva Vanitha Unit
President Kumudinie Pieris and other officials were present. |
