Tractors for Northern farmers

The government has decided to provide Northern farmers with two-wheel tractors under a special soft loan scheme, said Agrarian Services and Wildlife Minister S.M. Chandrasena in Jaffna recently.

The programme will be implemented jointly by the Economic Development Ministry and the Agrarian Services Department as part of the government's endeavour to improve the living and economic standards of the Northern farmers.

He said enterprising and efficient farmers who would receive two-wheel tractors under the first stage of this programme is now under way at village level.
