Fresh stocks to replace alleged contaminated diesel
Ceylon Petroleum Storage Terminals Ltd has issued fresh stocks of
fuel to institutions which complained that their vehicles had suffered
damage as a result of using contaminated diesel. The issue had been
settled according to a Petroleum Ministry media release.
Complaints were made of damage to diesel run vehicles, especially by
two government institutions, following which fuel samples were obtained
from the two institutions and subjected to analysis by CPST where it was
found that the diesel conformed to the required quality.
However since there were several complaints Ceylon Petroleum
Corporation has taken steps to dispatch samples for testing abroad.
Meanwhile Petroleum Industries Minister Susil Premajayantha has
instructed the CPC to follow up on complaints received by filling
stations about vehicle damage following the use of diesel and submit a
report to him.
Accordingly Managing Director CPC has instructed the Sales Manager to
call for reports from dealers about complaints received by filling
stations about contaminated diesel.
Steps have also been taken to take action against the supplier and
connected persons in the event it is revealed by these reports and the
findings of the three member committee appointed by Ministry Secretary
Dr. R.H.S. Samaratunga that diesel was of defective quality. |
