Air Vice Marshal Rohitha Ranasinghe heads IPM

Air Vice Marshal Rohitha Ranasinghe has been re-elected as the President of the Institute of Personnel Management Sri Lanka, at the IPM Council meeting held on July 16, 2012. He has been involved with the IPM since 2002 and had previously held several prestigious positions of the IPM Council.

Air Vice Marshal Rohitha Ranasinghe, with his vibrant personality, excellent leadership skills, and exceptional interpersonal skills, has contributed immensely to society. He has served 34 years in the Sri Lanka Air Force, enlisted as a Cadet Officer in 1978 and was graduated as a Pilot Officer in 1979.

While holding the rank of AVM, he was appointed initially as Director Welfare and subsequently, held the prestigious appointment of Director Administration in the Sri Lankan Air Force until his retirement. He retired from service in January 2012. He also served as the Secretary of the Air Force Board of Management.

His involvement with the IPM could be traced back to the year 2002, where he was elected as a Council Member. His contribution towards the growth of the IPM has been immense through the active role he had played throughout his involvement with the institute. Prior to his previous tenure as President IPM Sri Lanka, Air Vice Marshal Rohitha Ranasinghe has held the positions of Vice President and Chairman of the Exhibition Committee for the Service Providers' Exhibition at the National HR Conference 2007-2008, Secretary IPM (2008 - 2009) and also was the Chairman Membership Development Committee in 2010-2011

The IPM Sri Lanka is the nation's leader and pioneer in the Human Resource Management education. It has proven to be so through its continual strive for achieving higher standards and contributing towards the industry with objective and timely knowledge. The IPM was initiated in 1959 and was subsequently incorporated by an Act of Parliament in 1976. Today, it offers some of the most sought after courses in HR Management including the esteemed Professional Qualification in Human Resource Management. In June 2012 the IPM Sri Lanka was awarded the ISO 9001-2008 certificate by the Sri Lanka Standards Institution and currently it is the only professional institute to be awarded with such recognition by the Sri Lanka Standards Institution.

The IPM is governed by an elected Council which is headed by the President, and all activities of the institute are performed under the direction of the Council by the respective standing committees as well as the Secretariat and the Business School. The IPM Sri Lanka is a member of the Asia Pacific Federation of Human Resource Management and it is affiliated to the World Federation on Personnel Management Associations.
