Minister quashes rumours regarding substandard fuel

Petroleum Industries Minister Susil Premajyantha yesterday refuting certain rumours on substandard diesel said laboratory tests have confirmed that the diesel consignment issued by the Ceylon Petroleum Storage Terminals Limited (CPSTL) is up to the required standard.

Addressing an SLFP media conference at the Mahaweli Centre yesterday, the minister observed that the media has highlighted two isolated incidents. He said all the imported fuel consignments are tested on two occasions to ascertain that they are up to the required standard.

He also noted the ministry is ready to conduct an investigation, if it receives written complaints that technical errors in vehicles have occurred due to the diesel distributed by the CPSTL.
