Facelift for Jaffna Old Park

Senior adviser to the President and Economic Development Minister Basil Rajapaksa opened the renovated historical Jaffna Old Park last week. The Jaffna Old Park was renovated as an attractive environment while protecting the archaeological value in it. Traditional Industries and Small Enterprise Development Minister Douglas Devananda and Indian High Commissioner Ashok K Kantha also participated.

Meanwhile, Minister Rajapaksa also participated in a ceremony to provide development assistance to 1,975 resettled families in Kollankalatty, Thanthaiselvapuram, Mavadipuram and Mavadipuram South villages in the Tellipalai DS Division area. Roofing sheets, sprayers, food packages and money were distributed among 1,975 families.

Agriculture equipment and seeds were also distributed among these families to boost the household food production. Electricity was also provided to Palai Veemankamam North, Mavadipuram, Thanthaiselvapuram, Wasanthapuram and Viththagapuram villages in the Tellipalai DS Divison. Minister Devananda and Security Forces Commander for Jaffna Major General Mahinda Hathurusinghe also participated.
