Mihin Lanka would be launching direct flights to Bahrain from September 1. The airline would operate five flights a week. An official from the airline said that they would be using both the A 320 which could accommodate 180 passengers and their A 321 which could carry 210 passengers for these operations.

There is a growing demand from both Sri Lankan expatriate workers and travellers who were going beyond Colombo and Bahrain. The flights would operate every Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Sunday leaving Colombo at 6.20 p.m. and departing from Bahrain at 10.15 p.m. The airline also mulled plans to operate flights to Katmandu from the end of the year and have daily frequencies to both Gaya and Varanasi.
