Cumaratunga Munidasa’s ancestral home to be conserved

The ancestral home of Cumaratunga Munidasa and the adjoining property
at Dickhena, Dickwella is to be developed and conserved for posterity as
a mark of respect to the late veteran linguist and author to mark his
125th birth anniversary which falls on July 25.
The Cumaratunga Munidasa memorial and its precincts will be subjected
to a beautification programme and the ancestral home known as Veda
Medura will be rebuilt according to the ancient architectural tradition.
A Cumaratunga Munidasa Memorial Museum and library would also be set
up at the venue, said Wevurukannala Budu Raja Maha Viharadhipati Ven Dr
Dickwelle Tissa Nayaka Thera who is spearheading the project with the
assistance of several state and non-governmental institutions including
the Southern Provincial Council, Department of Archaeology and the
Dickwella Pradeshiya Sabha. |
