President meets share market reps on budget proposals

President Mahinda Rajapaksa participated in a discussion with share market representatives to obtain views and suggestions to formulate budget proposals for 2013.

The President who is also the Finance and Planning Minister discussed getting the share market involved in economic development and also how the share market could be modified to face the global economy. The discussion was held at Temple Trees yesterday.

The discussion also focussed on the share market's involvement in empowering local entrepreneurs.

Finance and Planning Deputy Minister Geetanjana Gunawardena, Parliamentarian Sajin Vass Gunawardena, Secretary to the President Lalith Weeratunga and Finance and Planning Ministry Secretary Dr P B Jayasundera also participated in the discussion.
