Call to strictly implement NATA Act

National Authority on Tobacco and Alcohol (NATA) chairman Prof Carlo Fonseka requested the Kandy Government Agent to implement the provisions of the NATA Act to the letter in Kandy during the Kandy Esala Perahera season to enable crowds visiting Kandy to witness the perahera and participate in religious observances in an alcohol and smoke free environment.

He has also requested the GA to ensure that sale of cigarettes in is prohibited in the temporary restaurants and trade stalls put up in Kandy during the perahera season.
