CID ordered to submit medical report on Duminda Silva

Colombo Additional Magistrate Prasanna Alwis, who is hearing the
murder case of Presidential Trade Union Advisor, former Colombo District
Parliamentarian Bharatha Lakshman Premachandra, yesterday directed the
Criminal Investigation Department conducting investigations into the
killing to submit a comprehensive medical report in connection with
Colombo District MP Duminda Silva who is receiving treatment in
Singapore. The magistrate further remanded the other suspects who were
taken into custody by the CID in connection with the killing until July
24.
President’s Counsel Hemantha Warnakulasuriya, who is watching the
interests of MP Duminda Silva, yesterday filed a counter affidavit in
connection with the contempt charge on Hirunika Premachandra. Hirunika
Premachandra filed her affidavit to court on the last hearing date.
The special CID team deployed by CID DIG Jayantha Kulathilaka had
recovered two T56 weapons, two pistols and two revolvers and questioned
37 persons including security personnel who were present at the scene on
the day of the incident.
CID ASP Shani Abeysekera who appeared with Chief Inspector Ranga
Lamahewa for the prosecution told Court that the dossier of the
investigations had been forwarded to the Attorney General and were
awaiting his advice.
