The minister said: “The UNP's hopes of victory at the forthcoming
North Central Provincial Council elections will only be a day dream.
The UPFA will gain a landslide victory far exceeding the victory at
the last election. The farmer community has been granted a package of
incentives including fertilizer subsidy by the government led by
President Mahinda Rajapaksa.
“The fertilizer subsidy is granted to farmers engaged in cultivation
subsidiary food crops too. They have been granted the opportunity to
purchase agricultural equipment at low prices and obtain micro bank
loans at low interest rates to purchase agricultural equipment. The
President even intervened to provide immediate relief to farmers.
“The people of Rajarata descending from ancient kings never forget
the yeoman service rendered by President Mahinda Rajapaksa by
eradicating the 30 year war and LTTE terrorism. Through Deyata Kirula
2012 Rs. 22,000 million was invested for the benefit of the people in
the Anuradhapura district.
“Arrangements have been made to divert Yan Oya water up to Padaviya
at a cost of Rs. 14 billion. The Pahala Yan-Oya reservoir project will
be inaugurated soon.”
“In the light of the vast development, awakening a dawning in the
North Central Province, the results of the NCP elections are a foregone
conclusion” the minister said.
