‘Fakih’ looking for joint venture in SL

As investments in tourism sector continue to rise, a leading global player in gifts and souvenir sector who is known for items with cultural identities, is looking to partner in a joint venture in Sri Lanka. “We like Fakih Group’s approach of community engagement and eco-friendliness while making profits. Over 50 % of luxury apartments sold prior to completion-research

Research in luxury condominium development in Sri Lanka shows that 50% of the units of most luxury apartments were sold prior to the completion of the construction. Further research also indicates that top end projects appear to perform better than low-end apartments due to higher income levels in the Western province, mainly Colombo.

Chicken demand up in 2011

Lanka’s poultry industry is expected to exceed capacity in the years ahead due to the rapid expansion of major players in the market. As a result of this margins are expected to be affected in the coming years. However, the demand for chicken has increased in 2011 with the rising tourism industry and the expanding markets in the Northern and Eastern provinces.

Several youth received appointment letters as trainees at Shangri-La Hotels, to embark on a challenging career and will receive four months residential training in Sri Lanka followed by 18 months training overseas in Shangri-La Hotels.During the training period, trainees will receive a substantial allowance together with other benefits.This is the first of several batches to be recruited by Shangri-La Hotels, which have already commenced construction of two hotels in Sri Lanka,
