Ministry helps farmer organisations

In an effort to save 200,000 hectares of paddy lands in the Anuradhapura district by facilitating the cleaning up of agricultural wells, tanks and other water sources the Agrarian Services and Wildlife Ministry handed over backhoe machines belonging to the Agrarian Services Department and Rs. 10,000 each to farmer organisations in the Mahaweli ‘H’ Zone at a ceremony presided by Minister S.M. Chandrasena at Mihintale on Saturday.

Four ordinary backhoe machines used to dig wells and six multi duty backhoe machines used for repair and sinking of wells and canals were distributed.
