Depth at the National Art Gallery

An exhibition of paintings and sculpture by B Wimalaratne titled ‘Depth’ will be held at the National Art Gallery, Colombo, on July 7 and 8 from 9 am to 6 pm.

Around 40 oil paintings and five sculptures will be on display.

The Change photographic exhibition

Seasoned photographer Praveen Vellalala will hold, ‘The Change’, an exhibition of his latest work at the Harold Piries Gallery, Lionel Wendt theatre, from July 6 to 8, 9 am to 6 pm.

The images are captured using various techniques. Around 100 photographs will be on display. The exhibition will be opened by renowned photographer Lal Hegoda.

Soul Cages at Bishop’s College

A Bharata Natyam Dance Theatre titled 'Soul Cages' by celebrated Bharata Natyam exponent, Savitha Sastry in association with Indian Cultural Centre, Colombo will be held on July 7 at Bishop’s College Auditorium, Colombo 3 from 6.30 to 7.30 pm.

The ‘Soul Cages’ is an artistic experience that captures the cycles of life and death as a journey, rather than an end itself. This unique presentation is structured on the imagery and narrative of a story, told through the fluid grace of the classical Indian dance form of Bharatha Natyam.

The connoisseur of this art form will be enthralled by the sophistication and nuances employed in the presentation, while the uninitiated will fall in love with art itself.
