Incorporated in 1975 as a wholly owned subsidiary of George Stuart and Company, George Stuarts Agencies Ltd. was a marketer of consumer goods, who fast diversified into the importation, promotion, and distribution of diagnostics and over-the-counter (OTC) products and gradually ventured into the marketing and distribution of pharmaceuticals and nutritional products. By the 21st century, the latter became its main business – providing health care products that improve the quality of life for all Sri Lankans – and was soon ranked amongst the top 10 private sector pharmaceutical importers locking horns with multinational giants.

“We are proud to announce that George Stuarts Health business is dedicated to developing, manufacturing and marketing of not only products but also services that will help improve human health,” said Erandajith Ranasinghe, Executive Director. George Stuarts Health is backed by the diversified conglomerate - George Stuart and Company – who combines the strengths of some of the most recognized and well respected companies in the country.

The George Stuarts Group is actively involved in many strategic areas of business such as Tea Exports, Trading, Airline Ticketing, General Sales Agent for Airlines, Inbound and Outbound Tours, Education and Financial Services, and today creates an integrated specialty pharmaceuticals and health care business that will drive innovation and growth locally.

“Moving from a mere stance of a pharmaceutical supplier to a larger mission of providing premium health care services for the well being of our people, we consider this venture as one of the most critical and important sectors in portfolio of GS. We are confident that we will continue to drive medical progress as we strive to create a better life for millions of people around the country,” he said.

The Company further announced that it has a strong product and service pipeline geared toward developing meaningful new therapeutic options to fulfill unmet medical needs and well-being. It has a robust research and development program which will look for opportunities to be a catalyst in the health-care industry by introducing proactive solutions for the health and wellness of the Nation. “We promise to nurture a healthier and happier nation by offering unsurpassed medical solutions aimed at improving lives, and we invite you to come share in this vision and begin to live life well,” added Ranasinghe referring to the all new George Stuarts Health philosophy of ‘Live Well.’

At present, George Stuarts Health represents state of the art international pharmaceutical manufacturers from around the world, who have been able to provide high quality drugs to all Sri Lankans under affordable price ranges.

George Stuarts Health, with their new vision, is now ready to play its role in taking the healthcare industry to the next level with plans for many more new ventures to be introduced in the near future.
